Final Armoring - Rock Armoring
The best armoring choice, in the group's opinion, is rock armoring. Rock armoring is the least expensive option and provides excellent erosion resistance. Local materials can be acquried to help minimize the costs of the design even further. Below are pictures of large rocks found in the subdivision. In order to withstand the force of Oak Creek, six feet diamater boulders should be the minimal size used.
This AutoCAD rendition shows an example on how the rock armoring should be placed. The rock armoring would span the entire length of the apron and would also approach the banks of the scour hole on each side. The bank protection will help minimize the amount of erosion taking place.
